Directions to Beaver Valley Camp

Beaver Valley is a private camp used primarily by Boy Scouts. It is set in a wilderness refuge along the Saint Croix river - very isolated for being so close to the cities. There is a log cabin where we sleep, cook, and eat. Water is from a well about 175 feet from the cabin. There are no phones or electricity available. Light downstairs is from our propane lanters, upstairs from flashlights. The cabin is heated with a wood burning stove.

Comments:

Highway 35 in Wisconsin turns north just after you cross the Apple River bridge and just before you get to the Dairy Queen. When you get to East Farmington you turn at Ken's Keyboard Lounge and go 1 1/2 miles to 280th street. Be careful when you come to the hill at the end of 30th Ave. the road ends in a "T" with 280th street. If you are going to fast you could be in the ditch. During the winter parking is at the red barn on the East side of the road accross from the entrance to the camp. The gate is marked with a small sign that reads BVC.

After going through the gate follow the trail to the woods. The trail turns left into the the woods at this point. Follow the trail about a hundred yards where the trail forks to the left. The left fork is the road to follow down to the cabin. Going straight ahead will go to the deer trail and parking during the summer. It is best to park at the barn in the winter due to the chance of getting snowed in.
